AISEES was founded in 2016 to promote research and academic programs in the humanities and social sciences that focus on southeastern Europe from prehistory to the present. The Institute actively supports scholarly contacts and cultural exchanges between North America and southeastern Europe (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Kosovo, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Romania, Serbia and Slovenia). For more information, please see the website, www.aisees.org.
Projects that AISEES has supported to date range from Roman urbanism in Butrint, Albania, to Byzantine painting in Bulgaria and feminism and politics in post-war Kosovo.
